1.8 Assignment Critical Reflection Journal – Blog
What is new to my thinking or learning this past week?
This week I learned about several of the significant educational technology learning theories. In addition, I learned the best ways to evaluate new technology and how to create videos for instruction, training, and communication. Though I was familiar with the video creation process, it was beneficial to review the process again. As an undergraduate, I was a Communications major and helped develop what became WIWU TV, the campus television station. However, the technology that we used 30 years ago has changed dramatically.
How has this new information challenged me?
The knowledge gained from this week’s studies will help me expand my knowledge base and prepare me to integrate technology into my virtual or face-to-face classroom. As a 21st-century educator, I must not only broaden my knowledge base but also stay up to date on the latest educational technology and how best to implement it.
How has this stretched my professional growth and development? What are the implications of this week’s learning on my professional practice?
As a Digital Immigrant, learning about technology always stretches my professional growth and development. Learning about new things, such as the frameworks discussed week, is part of that growth and development. An old saying says that you are dying if you aren’t growing. I want to continue to grow and develop in my educational journey. As I continue to grow, I can use the new things I learn about technology and how to evaluate and implement it.
How can these new learnings be used to impact my personal faith journey and my impact on the Kingdom?
Learning is a blessing from the Lord. As followers of Christ, we are called to grow in our knowledge of God and His Word. The wisdom from the Bible prepares, cautions, encourages, comforts, guides, and supports us in our time of need. Similarly, learning how to evaluate technology and use it in an educational setting is a blessing from the Lord that we can use to impact our students.
