4.5 Assignment-Critical Reflection Journal-Blog

What is new to my thinking or learning this past week?

This week we looked at the principles, processes, and practices of setting instructional goals and objectives, organizing instruction, and selecting appropriate instructional activities.  I continue developing new knowledge and concepts I didn’t previously know.  As I progress through this program and this course, more and more pieces of the Instructional Design puzzle are coming together to form a clearer picture of how an idea for a class goes from concept to completed project.

How has this new information challenged me? How has this stretched my professional growth and development? What are the implications of this week’s learning on my professional practice?

I continue to find this new knowledge exciting, informative, and enriching.  Ironically, while I am still learning these new concepts, I’ve been given an opportunity to put these new skills to work designing a student success course for a Christian University.  I hope this will be the first of many opportunities to use what I have learned in this course and all other courses in this program.

How can these new learnings be used to impact my personal faith journey and my impact for the Kingdom?

While writing this blog post, I tried to reflect on how the things I’ve learned this week could apply to my faith journey.  Just like a well-designed course is developed based on certain principles and processes, so is one’s personal faith journey.  As believers in Christ, our faith journey is designed and built on sound principles presented in scripture.  Scripture is organized into various instruction modules.  Examples are The Ten Commandments, The Beatitudes, and The Parables, to name a few.  God is the ultimate Instructional Designer, and the Bible is full of the instruction He has given us.
